Tonbridge & Malling Green Party launches campaign for Tonbridge Town Council

4 February 2018

We think Tonbridge needs a Town Council to ensure the voices of local people are heard. People in Tonbridge have seen their Council Tax rise by an additional £39.55 this year because of so called “fair charging” but, unlike the rest of the borough, people in Tonbridge have no say because it's the only area without a Parish or Town Council.

We are launching a campaign to deliver a Town Council to give Tonbridge the voice it needs. Whether it's traffic and air pollution; the protection of green space or facilities for young people, Tonbridge needs a locally elected body to tackle important local issues.

We'll be leading a campaign to get support for a formal consultation on the idea. Our chair, Mark Hood, featured in a recent issue of the Times of Tonbridge making the case (see Times of Tonbridge, 10th January 2018, pp22-23) and look out for #TownCouncil4Tonbridge on social media.
